Our Current Status

We presently have about 398 members ranging in age from infancy to 90+ years of age. Our average attendance on Sunday is about 125 for three services. Christmas Services for 2023 ran 385.

We have four to five services per week that parishioners and visitors may attend. They are Sunday at 8:30 am, 10:30 am, and 5:00 pm. Also, on Sunday from Easter thru Labor Day we have an outdoor Chapel at Big Lake where we host regular services at 10:00 am. On the second and fourth Tuesday of each month we have Eucharist at the Calcasieu Care Center in Hwy 14 at 10:30 am; and on the first and third Friday of each month we have a service at the Verandah in south Lake Charles at 11:00 am. In addition to these services, we offer an intergenerational Sunday School at 9:30, the choir also practices during this time, as does the children's choir. We offer a Lenten Simple Supper and Meditations and Evening Prayer on Wednesday at 5:30 pm., as well as an Advent Meditations series also on Wednesday evenings of Advent.

In addition to all of our worship services we have a monthly Brown Bag Program where we provide groceries to those in need on the third Tuesday of each month. We have an active outreach program called Shepherd's Staff which provides funding for a multitude of charities and non-profits in the community. the funding for Shepherds Staff comes from our annual Book Fair which occurs every spring.

Good Shepherd also has a 40 year missional ministry with Beijing, Haiti. We have built and rebuilt a school in that community. Our ministry efforts support the school by providing scholarships and needed supplies to the children in that community; as well as financially supporting the teachers in the community. When it can be done safely; we also send mission teams to Haiti to share our love of Christ and our commitment to the Beijing community.
